I have been using my scraper blade lately to make ditchs and flatten driveway and other repairs. I think i made the right choice in going with the heavier blade. This thing has more positions than i have been able to figure out yet. I love that you can offset the blade and have it cut to the side of the tractor. turning it to an angle makes ditch cutting simple. plus it weights enough to cut through just about anything. it comes with a support leg to hold it up while you are not using it. this i really like, other blades you have to find something to hold them up or pick it up when you want to use it. just thought i would let everybody know how well this thing really does work.

That blade sounds a lot like the Woods-Gill HBL-72-2 that I just had delivered yesterday. 9 angle positions forward and reverse, 5 tilt positions, and it offsets fairly easily, weighs in at around 530 lbs.

I'm not sure when I'll get to use it, but it did seem to be feature rich. I'll probably use it mostly for snow removal on those days when we don't get enough to use the snow blower.

I think the LP blade is very comparable, but my dealer sells Woods, so that's what I got.

The Midwest RB40-72 rear blade weighs 528 Lbs and at $ 585 is sold for hundreds of dollars less than either the LP or Woods.

Rick,
I have the bigger brother of your blade a 96". I have to agree with Mrhurt, bigger heavier blades are the way to go.

yep the features sound about the same, all i had ever seen before were the cheap blades they sell at northern and tractor supply. man am i glad i did not get one of those. "heavier is better" sounds kind of like a pontiac commercial doesn't it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

CCI,

Yep...those look nice too. However, my dealer handles Woods, and by the time I got paying shipping up to New England, I bet the price difference wouldn't have been that much....probably within a hundred bucks or so, in which case I still would've most likely purchased from my local dealer.

Actually, I got a real good deal 'cause I had a credit with my dealer from a previous purchase/adjustment. I ended up paying $580 plus tax, delivered to my door...well, actually delivered out to the back yard... so I'm happy. I believe he usually sells the blade for around $750-$800 or so.

I'm not knocking your equipment, I just have a desire to support my local dealer wherever possible. Now...if YOU were my local dealer...that would be a different story. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks,

~Rick
