I would like to have a Core Aerator for my lawn. I was looking for a reasonable priced Core Aerator. I was wondering who makes them and some ideas on prices.

Thanks,
Dave

I've looked into the Aerator the Midwest makes. The price is around $700.00 or so for the 60". First Choice also makes a nice Aerator. There are some good threads on the quality of them if you search. I believe TresCrows was one of the first TBN'ers to have one and his review was that it was an outstanding product. The First Choice and Midwest Aerators are most likely nearly identical as the two companies used to be in "cahoots". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I"m very happy with my Midwest built, First Choice Brand Aerator. Same qaulity as Landpride / Woods etc. 1/2 the price.

Hazmat,

I'm "casually" looking for an aerator, but probably won't purchase one for a year or two.

A couple of differences I've noticed between the Woods and the Midwest 60" Aerators. First, the Woods weighs about 100 pounds more. Not sure if that in itself can be attributed to any quality difference, but if nothing else, means that's 100 lbs. less weight you have to add to it for any given degree of penetration.

Second, is that judging from the pics on each mfg.'s website, the Woods unit has 4 stands on it, and the Midwest unit apparently has 3. Probably not much of a functional difference there.

I will confirm that there is a substantial difference in price between the two, and seeing is they probably both do the job equally well (with similar amounts of weight), so the differences I pointed out might not really matter to most.
