Received one of the JD tractor umbrellas for Christmas. Have not had time to install it. I believe it is going to be where I can easily remove when not needed for working in the woods. Anyone have any experience with these and comments on them? Considered a canopy once, but was too afraid it would be damaged in the woods.

I have the Femco/Snowco one i got from Tractor Supply that mounts on the ROPs..

My only issues with are the umbrella ribs are easily bent if you run into overhanging tree branches.. My only other gripe is that the mounting bracket adds overall height to the tractor. BUT for the prices its a good value, and will also allow the rops to fold to go in the garage..

Attached is a pic showing the mounting bracket.. I cant find a pic with the umbrella installed right now

Have been searching for an installed picture of one, but so far been unsuccessful. I foresee only using it when mowing open fields due to the potential for damage that you mentioned. Have about 15 to 20 acres of open field to cut a few times a year, if not mowed for hay. Looks like it would be fairly simple to remove and install when needed.

Is it safe to assume this is "personal" picture? If so, how long have you had the umbrella and are you happy with it?

it is a personal pic.. and for the money I like it.. If you notice the rear of the umbrella is not very tight - thats because I hit a tree branch and broke the rib. And it didnt hit it that hard and it was a very small branch/limb.. Now i just put the broken rib toward back and let the ROPs support it..

I dont think it would work well in the snow but for sun protection its good.. The other thing I have done is redrilled some the holes holding it in the frame lower so that it spin if you run into something. I had it so it would not rotate when I broke the rib

If i would do it again I would go with a Tuff Top instead.. But those are much more expensive
