I want some forks for moving firewood on pallets. I have a JD 2520 and the 200cx FEL is rated at 899 pounds. Since I can't lift more than the 1500# light-duty clamp-on, is there any benefit to get the 4000# medium duty one instead for this application?

It doesn't cost much more for the 4000# ($20), unless I want a stabilizer bar then the light duty is much less expensive. Is the stabilizer beneficial for pallet lifting?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice...

There is no doubt in my mind that the SSQA one are better for you. It brings the load closer to the tractor much allows you to pickup more. With the clamp on forks, it shoves the weight out a good 2' which takes away from your weight caring capability

Thanks Bradbilt. No doubt "real" forks work better than clamp-ons. My hope is that for 25% of the cost and less storage requirements, the clamp-ons will work for moving 4 cord of wood on pallets in less than 10 short trips. I think I would be OK with up to 50% loss of lift capacity to achieve that. It would be great to hear if anyone with a sub-compact has used clamp-on forks for pallet moving or any estimate on lift capacity loss (with weight 2' forward of the bucket lip).

CampHamp they should work for your needs OK. With our old full size backhoe we went with Chain-On forks because the bucket removal is not an option. Ours were very cheap so we picked up two sets and they work well for moving brush.

Learning to work blind takes some effort but the ability to take off and on fast is great.

I ordered some forks for my brother. Real fast service and they were delivered by FEDEX right to my door.

I'll be ordering a set for myself when I get my new tractor in a month or so.

Great product, great price, great service.

    Highly recommended.

Bought set of Titan 4000# x 48" clamp on forks a few weeks ago for our kubota B2710 with non SSQA bucket. Obviously, the Kubota will not lift 4000# but difference in cost between 1500# and 4000# was a few dollars. Now I can use them on big tractor as well. Ordered a stabilizer bar from Titan last Monday and it was delivered last Thursday.
