Local farmers FFA spring auction. The sale has Bushog Batwing 15 ft. mower. How much P.T.O. horse power needed to run this. Any idea of fair price desired. Need to mow 118 acres, twice this year. Thank you for your thoughts.
It is going to be CPR ground. Currently raising a fine crop of Bull thistles....... Goverment gives you a one month window. Currently have 1650 Oliver and a 1976 chevy pick up. The pick up has a 540 PTO shaft. Hollow sounds knowledgeable. What to look at besides the gear boxes. Also estimate as to value.
CRP or CPR
I will say that you can do it with a 50hp but an 85hp would be the idle size....
If it was me, would spray it,then come back later when your have killed out the weeds and mow....
The goverment wants it mowed spring and fall and then sprayed -it has been in for 5 years and this is their mid term maintance plan.. The farm real estate tax went up about 3000.oo a year yet you are locked into their program for 10 years. There is a stand of buffalo and grasses that were required to be planted. This thistle thing is a one time mid term deal. Of course nobody knew soy beans would be so high 6 yrs ago. I did read the previos threads. thanks again. It is CRP -I need the CPR
Im gonna guess Bushhog 2615(fair$5/6,000)(good6/7,000)(great 7/up). But it sounds like the place is going to be fairly thick and over a foot,so that 15ft is going to need some HP atleast 85. Its really hard to say, since cant see place. pics are nice
This is my 70hp pulling a 12ft doesnt have a problem in this but if it was really thick, would to have to really gear down and not be able to run as fast....
