First post on the forum and pretty much new to tractors and plows. I just went out and bought a MF Model 25 disk Plow to hook up to my Ford 515 Industrial Tractor. Bought the 515 back in OCT. It's not pretty but it works. I plan on rebuilding the plow this year, but i have to disk about 4 acres with it as soon as the ground dries out. It's been raining here in Texas for the past couple of days. The Model 25 has no cracks in the frame and there is only two things i see wrong with it. The first being that someone welded the places where the scrapers bolt on to and also the housing around a bearing is broken. I think i'll fill up the housings with grease and Pray that it holds for the 4 acres for now. Then during the summer i'll get a new housing for it and tear it apart and paint the plow. I just ordered a manual for it yesterday, so i'll know the proper names of everything. Anybody know where to get parts for these old Model 25 Disks? I will update you on how the rebuild goes. Here are some pictures of the model 25. From what I understand by reading on line the MF I have is the biggest one they made for the model 25. It has 7 disk on each axle for a total of 28 disks. Cant wait until it dries enough to get out and PLOW..... Winter Sucks. P.S: Any tips or hints or info on the model 25 would be appreciated.

Agri Supply has a lot of parts that you can fit onto that 25.

What's the engine hp on your 515? It ranged from 40-99 hp on that series.

Congrats on the find....and welcome to TBN. I believe this is the model that FWJ (Farms With Junk) speaks so highly about. They are supposed to be the Cadillac of discs from what I have read. You may want to listen to his take on your disc.

OH.....and you could use the search function to read more on this disc. Try a key word of "MF 25 Disc" or something similar.

Flusher:
I have been told that the engine has 59HP. I have been unable to find out completely though. I bought the owners manual and service manuals for it, but it's a general manual that covers from 230A to 545A. When i looked in the service manual it did not list my tractors HP. It listed a 230A, 340A, 445, 540A, 545. So i have to do more research. what i did notice in the manual is 230A had 33hp and when it gets up to 545 it has 55HP. So to make a logical guess i would have to say low to mid 50's. The Model # is DU212K. I know everything except the DU2. D is suppose to stand for HP and U is for the Chassis Type. The first 2 stands for design stage going by the manual. What ever that means. Anyone know?

I was "gifted" the same disc harrow by my wife's Uncle to use with my '47 Ford 8N. I think it's the same one - I cleaned the paint/grime off the ID tag last summer but it is under the snow 2.5 hrs. away at our summer cottage. I had to do a bit of welding & replaced a couple of broken discs. Mine does not have the scalloped discs on the front gang, they are smooth same as the rear gang. Used it a few times in the Spring on our gardens. It is a load on the 3 point for the old Ford. From what I could find on the Internet at the time, mine may use hardwood bearings for the discs?

That is quite a load for an 8N. You must have to steer it with the brakes.:D

Only have to steer with the brakes when pulling hard in soft wet ground (when I shouldn't be in there anyway). It doesn't take much of a bump in the lane when transporting with the hitch raised up for the front end to get VERY light. This particular disc harrow was purchased new as a package with a Massey Ferguson tractor similar to an 8N. I have seen an old photo but can't tell if it's a TE-20 or TE-30 - it was definitely not a 35 or larger.

I have the same harrow. It is a sturdy piece of equipment and should handle your four acres without a problem. Your harrow is missing all the disc scrapers, but if you don't have clay soils it might not matter too much. As someone else noted, the bearings are made out of wood, so make sure they are well greased at all times. You might want to take them apart and check their condition. If you need a manual let me know and I can send you a copy.

Well I was able to get out in the field this evening and plow with my NEW :D MF Model 25 disk plow. The ground was a little wet but i put on the scrapers and the model 25 worked perfect. I cant wait to rebuild it this summer and paint it. It's missing a couple of scrapers and needs a new bearing or two but it sure does work good. I still have about two acres to plow in the morning. I cant wait until the morning and finish it up. Then i'll let the ground dry somemore and maybe monday go over it again. The only problem I had today was the tires would spin ever once an a while. It is a Industrial model Ford 515, so hopefully i'll be able to switch over to some R-1's this spring because those R-4's just do not cut it, while plowing, either with the MF Model 62 moldboard or the disk plow. It's pretty darn fun Plowing. It's almost as good as sex :D , I said ALMOST....
