Anybody have any feedback about these finish mowers? I was driving along today and spotted one in excellent condition. I figured it was big $$ but I called anyway. Much to my surprise I found out he wanted $500. He said it was 4 years old or a 2004...can't remember which. It's a 72" and exactly what I'm looking for....unless anyone tells me otherwise.

thanks

I would snatch it up. I've been using an ATH900 for over 15 years and it is still going strong. I've only had to do minor maintenance in all these years. They are tough mowers.

Depending on the shape its in, it sounds like a good deal.

well...i went and picked it up. It's a 2004 ATH720. It was stored inside except for the last year. I think i did good...we will see. It has that "wind tunnel" technology i read a bit about...i guess it's supposed to be good in deep wet grass with that feature...we'll see. I was also happy to see it had solid wheels and nothing inflatable like some do.

Make sure the gearbox has oil in it. I bought a rear discharge, rear mount 60" Bush Hog new a few years ago. Dealer put oil in it but the unit had been sitting on the lot. The seal went bad and let the oil out. Didn't have any trouble though.

I think you can get an operator's manual online. Use 80W90 gear oil. Don't know about replacing the seal.
