two bottom plow help!

I am going to use a two bottom plow with my tc40 to work up severel acre's. Well my question is how to do this. The plow is right handed (I think) the plow throws to the right. does that mean I should be working from the left side of the field to the right or right to left. where do I run my tires once I have started. As you can see I am going to need some practice and help. (seat time)

First of all you just start. Does your tractor have draft control? If so just set it at the depth you want to plow at. If not you will have to control it by hand. You will always throw the dirt the same way. On my AC WD45 my plow trips from right to left. Because of this I can just use my wheel brake and spin around and go back up the same way. If you just have a one way plow you will have to go to the other side of the field. You also don't usually plow across, just go up and down. Go down one side and then up the other and then pull your plow up and over to the next side. Keep going until you meet in the middle. You will just follow where you plowed last. Once you get your depth figured you should have a set screw that you can easily pull the plow up when going from side to side and then drop her back down to the preset depth when you get to the other side. Good luck. With a two bottom plow it will take 2-5 hours to do an acre. Don't lug your tractor down or you will burn out your clutch or your hydro. You will probably be going pretty slow.

Is this a pull-type plow (on 3 wheels) or a 3-point plow?

You will usually want the right side wheels in the furrow the next round. You will need to move your tractor wheels to line up, or move the plow over to line up. You also need to set the plow level the first round, and then set up the angle (left to right to account for the tractor wheels being in the furrow) for the following rounds.

You would go down one side of the field, and back up the far side of the field. Throw the dirt to the outsides of the field, so you will have a bit of a trench (furrow) in the middle when you meet & are done.

Next year, you will start plowing in the middle of the field, throwing the dirt in towards center & make wider rounds, ending up with the furrows on the outsides of the field. (Just opposite of the first year.) This will mostly keep your field level, you don't want the ridge & the furrow to be the same place year after year....

A pull type plow shoud have two controls. One will set the depth of furrow. The other will adjust the plough wheel that is in the furrow so the furrow bottom is level. The tractor drawbar is adjusted to keep the tractor wheels and the one plough wheel in the furrow. The rear plough wheel will be adjustable so that the plow share is running horizontal and not always digging or rideing up.

Good points guys. Another thing I thought of is you will also have to adjust your speed so you lay the plowed dirt over. If you go too slow or too fast you won't get the dirt to lay over right.
