I took my light duty bucket from my JD 4105 with 300cx loader down to a local welding shop to have some hooks welded on the bucket. While I was there I asked them to put some straps on the side and to beef up the top of the bucket to help support while lifting with the hooks. Now I have a "medium duty" bucket.
I think they did a good job. 1/4" steel straps welded on for support. They surprised me by painting it JD green without me even asking! Now I can take my paint back to the store that starts with Tractor and ends with Supply (where I usually spend all my money). I don't do very heavy work or lifting with the bucket, but I thought it would be better to strengthen the bucket before I someday had to straighten AND strengthen it.
