The shaft on my rototiller snapped while I was cultivating the food plot. I dismantled and welded it so the tiller is operating but I need to adjust the slip clutch I have fitted, or source a new one. It's been fine in years gone by and is always stored inside. I bought it used so no manual with it and no distinguishing marks on the casing except the numbers 75.

I took the collar off thinking I might be able to dissemble it but the bottom place is crimped in place. There's some daylight between the nuts on the bottom and the bottom plate which I'm assuming is a problem. I guess the studs are connected to an inner slip plate that is seized. I don't think the nuts have slipped as they're pretty tight. I'v tried to gently persuade the inner plate to release by tapping on it but it isn't cooperating.

If I can't get into it and I can't loosen the inner plate, I'm guessing its goosed. Am I missing something? I don't want to till without the clutch in place. The weld I did is solid but I don't want to risk damaging the tiller again.

With the picture of you clutch go to landpride.com, look up owners manual for RTA15 series tiller, under Maintenance section you will see instructions on slipping and tearing down this style clutch.

Many thanks, DDT. Online tear down instructions were clear and easy to follow and clutch is now operating as it should.
