A friend of mine has a 1986 or so Danuser G20/40 with 9" and 18" augers. The flights are fine but both points and cutting edges on both need replacing. The auger sounds fine while running but is in poor condition due to sitting outside for the past 23 plus years. The unit will need the following parts to make it not only safe but dig again. The 9" just sat 3" down and spun without digging when I tried it out.
* New Points and gutting edges
* New safety guard for output shaft
* New drive shaft cover ( Gone , gone ,gone)
* PTO connector collar tractor end or new spring lock rebuild kit
* Lift extension for more final height during transport
* Media blasted, primed and painted
This unit is rusty and neglected everything was hard to get loose, had to spay down with WD-40 to get stuff free and it still took some time. Both augers were buried in the dirt about 8" down and the points are rusted to crap. I hope I can heat them and unscrew them or the augers aren't worth a darn. So what would be a fair price taking into acount that if the augers can be fixed I'm looking at approximately $250.00 to $400.00 additional in parts and that doesn't include blasting and paint, plus what ever the unit should sell for. Give me some thoughts please everyone has always been helpful in the past. Thanks Mark

2 years ago, at a small consignment shop I gave $250 for a G20/40 with the 9"auger in good condition. He was selling it for a retired farmer who had lost the tractor end of the pto shaft. I purchased a complete new shaft off ebay. It's old enough not to have the auger shield but I don't get near it nor will I allow anyone else around it when it is running. Danuser has all the parts to bring it back into shape if you want to spend the time and money. This is the pic my wife sent me with her phone when she found it at the consignment shop.

I was thinking around 200 for the setup with both augers if I can get the points off. Your machine is alot cleaner then the one I'm looking at no where near the rust issue I face. If the augers can't be salvaged I wouldn't pay that much I don't think. But he is a good friend and he will be fair I'm sure. Mark

Thanks Glenn but some bad news. We had spoken about 4 months ago I was going to send this auger in and have it redone. Well it has taken this long to get an answer from my friend. Today he told me he wants $8oo,oo for the auger and the two bits. Your company had told me the auger was made in the mid 80's twenty five plus years ago and it isn't in pristeen condition by any means. It would cost me another $600 plus to send it to you and have it redone. I can buy a new one for that price. Problem is I won't use it enough to justify that type of outlay of cash. I know you folks make a **** good product but I just can't spend that much for equipment that sits still for most of the year. So sorry to say I'll have to look elsewere for an auger hate to do it but sometimes ya get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you. Mark

Glenn, I'm glad that you have "joined up" as your expertise of diggers and augers and as an equipment manufacturer will certainly be appreciated by a lot of fellow TBNers in this and future posts.
Welcome aboard.

Mark I read what that seller wanted for his PHD. I don't think he's that good a freind as what you thought. Reading your response to G.Danuser I'd say your a gentleman and a class act act ! Pass on it.
Back in the day I would have told your "freind" to sit on one of his augers . :D

And yes I know we all have the right to price our own stuff as we please.

Well they say when one door closes another opens. That sure was the case today. I was sitting in the dealership having my truck oil changed ( you have no idea how much I hate saying that, but they are doing an oil test to see where the slippery stuff is going, using 2 quarts per 3000 miles) Well they happened to have a computer for customers to use while waiting, so on to Craigs List to see if there was another G20/40 for sale. Well long to short I found one posted this morning, called the guy and we talked. Nice fellow, he had redone the tractor to digger seal on the front of the power unit, filled with new fluid, sanded down and painted the unit then applied greesed to everything. Completely redone except for updated guards, selling price with 12" auger with real good point and cutting edges, $500.00. No way I say and he say's yep. So off I go for a 2 1/2 hr ride each way money in hand and good buddy in the truck. Came home with a nice clean unit, nothing to do but order the guards and install a set of new warning and company stickers. Gentelman gave me his card and told me any problems he gives a money back guaruntee. I called Glen Danuser from the car dealer he took the time to go on the net to craigs list and check out as best he could what I was looking at. I can't thank him enough for his devotion to his customer service and business image. The only numbers I could find on the unit were "6003" on the power unit it's self. I'm goning to call Glenn tomorrow and find out what year the unit is and order the parts needed to finish the overhaul. Glenn said he would send out an owners manual and new stickers also. Great service, try getting this type of help from China!!!!!! How ya all like me now? is all ya might get. Thanks for the feedback, Mark
