    Default Ferguson Plow Question...(s)

OK, I get it there isn't a good way to obtain new points for my two Ferguson plows with moldboard numbers of 12B AO 112, point numbers of 100248 FT Solid. My tag reads "Type" 12-AO-28.

But my buddy has a Ferguson with moldboard numbers of 660 010 MI. He can use NEW steal points from Tractor Supply. His tag reads "Type" AO 14.

Why can't I retro fit my plow with the same set up as his? Is it all about the cost of retro fitting mine in buying the new brackets, shins, moldboards and points?

It's hard to believe that somebody isn't making this easier for all these great little 3 pt plows. Whose got the answers? Thanks in advance for all your expert opinions and experienced advise.

Hope someone has a solution. Went to about 3 dealers a few years ago, and the best answer was "If you buy 100 pair, I can get them for you." So the 2 bottom Ferguson doesn't get much use anymore.

Sounds like the small farmer isn't being supported anymore. That's a big red flag. Who's going to feed us when the megafarming agrubusness food factory, owned in one way or another by monsanto, collapses.

I bought 2 Ferguson plows at auction a few years back, a 1 x 16 and a 2 x 14. I thought I could buy plow shares but when I finally tracked down a person who could sell me one for my 16" bottom plow he wanted $175. The landslide was also worn out but I could make my own replacement for that. That plow s now a mailbox stand. When the shares are completely gone on the 2 bottom I will buy one of the new plows that are serviceable which I should have done in the first place instead of relying on auctions.

Not sure about what will fit in a similar fashion to your buds. I'm somewhat surprised he was successful at TSC as I've heard most have difficulties with these. Long ago, someone fitted mine with an Oliver frog, and the rest of the parts, so the availability is still pretty good. You may want to inquire over on "Yesterdays Tractors".

I was going to recommend Sweigard Brothers in Halifax Pa., but I can't seem to find info on them now. They used to carry parts for these plows. If I google their old address it comes up as Messick's.

You might also try Ken Sweet here on the board. He may be able to track down some parts for you.

I called three places that I had found info on in forums here, at YT and anywhere else I could, from the web. Out of the three places two numbers are out of service and Scott, that I finally got a hold of, at Sweigard's stated that they did (can I say DID) have shares/points for the Fergusons but sold them out years ago and can't provide them any more. He continued that he wishes someone would again make them available cause he gets at least three calls a day for the Ferguson plow shares/points.
As for the frog from another company that would work....well there's the price of the frog, then the landslide, then the shin, and a new moldboard, that's just for each bottom. I think they call that a new plow, at least I'd have that much money into it by then.
Just a shame to throw out the little Fergusons. Thanks for all the input.

    WilleM,

Check this site out. I just bought me a 2x12 ferguson a couple months ago,and was lucky enought everything is in very good shape. I did however phone call these people before i dragged the plow home, and they gave me a lead to whoever their "wharehouser" is? Its a very old school (was) family run bizz in central Iowa. As I underrstand it at one time moonms ago,,these outfit,,did in fact make a lot of plow replacement pieces. They were very friendly and helpful over the phone. It seems after having mine there are a few variants beyond a 12,,or 14 " moldboard on these?

I called Wiese Ind. and got the same results...should a been here ten years ago..answer.

They don't have any points/shares to fit, they used to, but that was many years ago. They get numerous calls every month for these parts but can't justify the time and machines to make them, even though they get numerous calls a month.

    I be here still searching/researching.

Anybody else with any good ideas?
