Does anyone know of a good rear finish mower that is pull type like a 60 or 72"? I have a New Holland TC29D with a 72" mid mount right now and am doing more things with it which means taking the deck on and off more. And quite frankly it is getting to be a pain to take on and off. You are supposed to be able to pull it out from the side but with the super steer bar underneath the tractor you can't. I have to raise the front end of the tractor to get on and off and even then as I get older that mower deck is extremely heavy to move. I have lots of trees so the 3 point hitch one is not an option.

Many years ago I saw one and was posted here but can not find it any more and am hoping someone here has seen something that would work. I thought of buying a 3 point one and converting but not sure how that will work on my side hills with all 4 tires being able to rotate. I guess I could weld the ones on the back.

How about converting you mid-mount to front mount. Run it up front like a snow blower.

I don't see any advantage of a pull type finishing mower over a 3PH type since both would be behind the tractor...right?
Or, are you looking for an offset mower of some sort to get under the trees?
Am I misunderstanding your post?

I never completely understood peoples opposition to 3 point mowers either.
I have never had one, but I used to "mow" with a bush hog a LOT and I could mow almost as close to trees as I can with my eXmark, and I am sure it is as close as I could get with a tractor belly mower

What about a 3pt finish mower? They seem to be 18-26 inches shorter than similar sized rotary mowers and should give you a cut very similar to your mmm

The problem with a 3 point is the trees. When you turn around the trees trying to get close the mower in the back goes out and the mower can't get close enough. I have tried the 3 point already and will not waste my money on one so it can sit in the bushes like my neighbors does. Heck I wouldn't even have to buy one as my neighbor would probably give me his.

But, wouldn't a pull type do the same thing?
I suppose a pull type (if even available) would allow for some turning (limited by the rear tire clearance and PTO driveshaft) would be a bit more flexible.
There are two behind mowers...I've seen them advertised for ATVs and UTVs. These are self powered, something like this:
Swisher 60" 14.5 HP Finish Cut Tow-Behind Trailmower T14560A#

Think that's what you need?

(BTW, if that link doesn't work, search for this:

A pull type hooked to the drawbar would stay to the inside of the tractor. The ones you listed I have seen before but was hoping to get on to run off the PTO.

I would think the potential angles with a pto and pull behind would/could get to intense for the universal joints to handle

I'd also be worried about the mower hitting a rear tire when making a turn...that could result in a bad day!
But, there are pull type rotary cutters..and a number of people operate them. Maybe someone will chime in and tell us what prevents PTO damage and the tire interference.
