I've got a Sears 10" moldboard plow, has the 3 pt hitch. When I put it on the tractor, I noticed that when I started plowing, the plow rotated upward and the point came out of the soil. Noticed that the top link on the hitch had been forced downward in a rotation move. Hence, the plow rotated and came out of the soil. What am I missing here? Is this because the plow is too light and won't stay down? I've noticed some folks have a lever that they hold down as they run along the plow row. I don't have that, I can't be the only one who's had this problem.

How about a picture? I have a sears 10" plow as well, but it's a sleeve hitch. It has a screw adjustment on the top to control the angle of attack which controls the depth. I've also found it very difficult to use properly and have since gone to a tiller.

You have to have the share set level at the depth you wish to Plow. You may have to chain the three point to this depth.

Here's a picture of my plow with the sleve hitch. My understanding is that your 3pt hitch upper link connects at the red arrow in this picture. Or maybe at the yellow arrow. In either case, it sounds like you're missing the adjustment screw between the red and yellow arrows. If that adjustment screw is set to short the plow will dig down, if to long it will come out of the ground. If it's just right, it works well. Reminds me of Goldilocks & the 3 bears. :laughing:
