Front-End Loader Piranha Tooth Bar or Standard Tooth Bar

I read a lot of the threads on toothbars and appreciate everyone's opinion, there are some really good suggestions and its very helpful. I have a JD2320 (24hp) and want to clean up small sapplings, blackberry, honeysuckle and the like. This field has been idle for some years and mowed with a bushhog just cutting the sapplings off. A few of the sapplings are too big to be plowed under and not big enough for a chain saw, a toothbar when the ground is soft sounds easier and removes the roots. The field will be planted for hay. I like the Bxpanded Piranha tooth bar idea, but I am concerned it may not hold up over time and without another top plate in the bucket, I wonder if it will bend and/or damage the bucket also. I am thinking it might work under ice packed snow better thereby giving me another reason to buy it over the conventional tooth bar. Anyone have any experience with this Piranha or any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I've the Piranha tooth bar for more than a month. It's pretty heavy duty.
I've used it to excavate 9-10" down in solid clay over an 800 sq. ft. area for a paver patio. It worked great digging and back dragging. Without a tooth bar you can't dig in the hard clay in my yard.

I have a traditional tooth bar and it is very helpful. I wonder how sharp the teeth are on the Piranha and if you can cut yourself on it if you hit it with your legs as you walk past it? Once in awhile when my garage is overfilled I find myself bumping into the loader as I walk past the tractor carrying stuff. Tractor on!

We appreciate your interest. The Piranha sounds like a very good match for your needs.

As for durability, there are lots of Piranhas out there being used on everything from Kubota BXs to the L and M series. JDs 2305s, 1026Rs and others with buckets up to 72" wide. We've equipped a TYM, several Massey GCs and even a 72" Skid steer.

We have gotten only positive feedback and haven't heard of a single problem. There are numerous threads and comments on TBN if you care to search. You can also check the reviews on our website BXpanded for a few comments. I'd think it's pretty unlikely (never say "never") that any normal operation of a 2305 is going to damage the Piranha.

I'm attaching a pretty poor cell phone picture of some of the different sizes we had ready to ship some random day. The smallest pictured is 46 1/2" for a BX the largest is a 66" if I remember correctly.

I have a standard tooth bar, which is great for digging and log carrying, but does nothing extra for small brush unless used like a rake back-dragging. For 1 to 2 inch brush it helps digging it out. I would get a Piranha if brush was the main job.

That does look like a great tooth bar, what's the spec for the steel? Thickness and material used for a 72" bucket?
I have to say I'd be a bit worried about putting 3000+lbs on one tooth but I guess that depends on the material.

Old thread, sorry . . . but I'm considering tooth bars and curious about the steel used, hardness, and how it holds up with lots of granite rocks!

My wr Long Tooth Bar has been great. I don't know the steel type but it is definately made to dig and pry. I spend a lot of time moving rocks out of my road and skid trails. Since I got the tooth bar it has been a lot easier. These is small compared to many I have moved.
