So I have a chance to buy a Super Apache 3 pt hitch chipper shredder. It comes with drive shaft and 2 different size screens. It is in pretty good shape and I don't think it has had much wood run through it. The owner is a older guy who ran a small greenhouse operation up untill 5 years ago when he retired. the chipper was used mostly to mulch and mix loam and organic fertilizer (manure) together for the pots. It is my understanding that WW Grinder who made this went out of bussiness around 15 years ago. The owner a custermer of mine said make him a offer, He wants to move soon. What do you guys think would be a fair offer. I just did 300 dollars worth of work for him , would I be lowballing him to do a trade off. Thank you for your imputs.

Never heard of the system. What luck have you had on doing google search? Try doing different keywords. Remember that google, bing etc are market focused and not knowledge search tools so you might have to bounce back into distant pages to find info. Then look for new words to associate with term searches. If you know all this then I apologize.

No idea when they went out of business, but it was a long time ago. I had a Super Apache years ago, and it was a great chipper shredder for me. Definitely not something you'd buy for commercial chipping, but a good, solid homeowner machine. All the bearings, shafts, belts, etc. are all 'off the shelf' parts, easily found if anything needed replacement. Hammers for the shredder could easily be made if needed, and a decent machine shop can make you blades when it comes time to replace them. I had a machine shop make a new anvil for mine out of hardened tool steel for $25. If it is good shape, I feel $300 would be a low ball offer, as I still see them selling on CL around here occaisionally in the $800 range (or more). All the more power to you if the owner was willing to swap even I guess.....

P.S. As a wild guess, I'd say W W went out of business somewhere in the 80s.

Well I haven't purchased it yet, the owner said he would make sure I want or don't want it before he sells it. One of my friends said he had one like it and sold it because it was just easier to have a big brush burn pile every winter. And I have 6 acres of woods so I can make as big pile of brush as I want and just let it rot. So thanks for your comments but I really have to think do I really need this or is it just going to sit around.

Here is something to remember.

When you want info on an item go to GOOGLE and enter the phrase
or term you seek and hit ENTER, then on the left side of the screen
click the word IMAGES, now look at the images, find something similar
and click on it and read...

For instance I typed into Google;
"Super Apache 3 pt hitch chipper shredder"
and then clicked on IMAGES and got THIS

One of those pics lead me HERE where there were some prices.

BUT SOME HOWEVER, if you can NOT get parts and if you need parts
you either have to make those parts or you can enjoy a large paperweight.

BearCAT Chipper/Shreadders are solid units. I just bought one recently
and spent about 500 bux on all new chipper blades and shreader blades and
spacers and rods and I am happy with it. Parts are available and they are
BEASTS! Gnarly tree eating herbavores they are, With TEETH! They
are very easy to work on as well.

Now if I coulod find a bargain on a blower for my #554 BearCAT!

What did you do for a pro shaft? I just bought one with a seized shaft and would like to know what to get to replace it.

I also need to figure out how to disconnect the chipper end. I assume it is held on with a pin or bolt on that end. I see holes for something like that but they are empty.
