I have a 3-point sprayer where the pump is mounted on the sprayer and driven by a telescoping 1 3/8" PTO shaft. I have 3 tractors I can use the sprayer on, but the distance from the 3-point lift arm ends to the PTO shaft on the tractors are all different. The Ford 2000 Cat I hitch the shaft just about has enough clearance, but it fits OK. I can also use in on a White with Cat II hitch and it also OK, it telescopes but there is still enough overlap of the 2 shaft ends. But when I try to use it on the newest tractor, a NH TD75 with Cat II, it isn't even close and I need about 12" more shaft.

Isn't there an industry standard for the PTO to lift arm end measurement? I can understand a difference between Cat I and Cat II, but thought the Cat II's would all be the same?

Anyway, what would be the easiest way to use the sprayer on the different tractors? Do I have to buy a longer shaft for the New Holland and reinstall on the keyway when I switch tractors? Or could I just use a longer tractor-end half and leave the old shaft attached to the sprayer? But then the safety shields may no longer overlap?

That's probably what I would do. The safety shields can be bought in pieces too if you can determine the manufacturer. I would compare the price of a new complete shaft to that of the pieces to make a half shaft. They might be about the same. Baum Hydraulics have the components to build about any driveline, but parts add up quickly. New complete shafts can be had pretty reasonable for standard applications.

And no, there is no standard I know of for PTO shaft lengths by 3 point categories. Too many variables in tractors and implements, quick hitch or no quick hitch, etc.

I had the same problem. I just bought a PTO Extension for 35.00. You can probably pick one up for 20 if you look around. I will be using it on the tractor with the shortest PTO shaft so that I don't have to change the shafts on the equipment. All the Fords have the same set up but my new Kioti has a longer distance between PTO and the end of the 3 PH.
