Woods BH70 HYDRAULICS to NH 1725

I have a Woods BH70 backhoe on order (4 wks out) and need to get set up for attachment to tractor hydraulics. My loader uses the accessory ports on the OEM "diverter/manifold" leaving no obvious access. Would there be a power-beyond port on the loader control valve set? I have tractor Svc manual, loader and BH70 operator manuals, all no help. I'm a no clue newbie. Thx. Chuck Manzer

How many hydraulic lines going in to / out of the loader valve?

Chuck, There is an adapter plate, either HV4944 or HV4945, sold by Tisco, an aftermarket supplier for this purpose. It runs about $80. And installs on the 3pt lift cover under the seat on the rh side in front of the hitch lift lever. There is a 4 bolt cast cover there now. This adapter plate sandwiches between the case and the cover allowing hydraulic access for auxiliary equipment. You need longer metric bolts and ORB hydraulic fittings to hook up your hoses.

I don't know if a diagram comes with the adapter, but I probably have a schematic in an old catalog.

The 1725 doesn't have a particularly large hydraulic pump and the backhoe will be somewhat slow, but this is a setup that is clean and factory agreeable. It will allow the output allowable by the tractor.

As Ductape says, you do need to know how many hoses the backhoe requires to make it work in any case.

Thanks to you both. Ill start pulling some covers. It appears from the BH70 manual "plug it in" diagram that the hoe has only 2 hoses. I'll check further and be back here in a day or two. Thx again. Chuck.

Did you check with Woods to see if the sell a "hose kit" for your tractor model? The sold me one for my TC40S/BH90-X and very easy to install after the right rear wheel was removed.

Thanks, I have emailed them a couple of times with no response. Plan to call tech svcs this week. Rosseels, my source, says no kit available for this 14 yr old model. Area dealers are non-responsive also. Really appreciate the help here. Chuck.

By the way, what is ironic is Woods owns Tisco, but they don't work that way.

My remote (loader) valve has 3 hoses in/out: pressure from pump, a return to the sump, and a power-beyond hose. These ports are marked on the valve body. All of these are connected to the "relief-diverter/manifold" accessory ports. Appears that another manifold or T's at either end of these hoses should be the solution. I made the call to Woods tech service; they couldn't help. No hose kits for the 14 year old model. He did say the 3 hose system (continual pressure release??) is necessary. That has me confused since the BH70 manual has a diagram clearly showing only two hoses (connected together for storage). Meanwhile, another call to my sort-of-local N.H. dealer got a half-hearted promise of a review of old installation manuals. Is any of this a meaninful clue to an experienced tractor guy? P.S. to Ted; The Woods tech said the Tisco plate will not work on my tractor. Thanks--Chuck

You'll want to make a new hose to come out of the power beyond port. Run it to the rear of the tractor and terminate in a male or female that will connect to the 'in' hose on your backhoe. Then, have a second hose made that will mate to the 'out' hose on your backhoe...... run it back toward the loader valve and connect it to wherever the current power beyond hose goes now (probably a hydraulic block under where your right foot rests?). When your hoe is not on the tractor, you will connect the quick connects at the rear of your tractor together (one male , one female) to continue the hydraulic flow. Likewise... the male and female quick connects on the hoe will be connected when its in storage. What you are doing is connecting the hoe in series between the loader valve and the three point hitch.

Appears that another manifold or T's at either end of these hoses should be the solution.

The only place you can 'tee' into the system is return lines going back to the sump. Your backhoe must be plumbed in series in your system.... otherwise the flow will always take the path of least resistance ..... leaving you with very poor performance with your new hoe.
