I recently bought an all purpose plow. It goes by a number of names. I bought it because it is as the name infers an (all purpose) implement. I grew up using and old Ford/Ferguson tractor, and one of these plows was used extensively around our farm.

I am using it right now to break up Georgia red clay so I can pick the dirt up easier with my FEL. Later on I will use it to bust up clots of dirt when I plow a section that I plan to plant in fescue for our farm animals to graze on.

Anyone else using one of these plows?

Thank you for putting in a picture. Yes this is what I call an all purpose plow! Others may call it a spring plow, rip plow, or even another name that I am not familiar with.

Isn't that a cultivator, from the pic angle it looks similar to my one row cultivator.

These are usually heavier than a cultivator but can be used as one if the shank spacing is easily adjustable. I use my one row cultivator for tillage in the spring to breakup the winter hard pack and mix in fertilzer & compost, then move the center shanks back out to straddle the row for cultivating. I have the County Line from TSC.

The one that I just bought had the shanks farthest out on each side setup with sweep bottoms installed. The old gentleman was using it as a two row lay off plow in the spring, for his garden. He then moved the shanks around and made it into a cultivator.
