We keep them out with a tape type electric fence. Works well once they figure out where the shock is coming from. I have also heard spraying a repellent works but I haven't tried. Have you tried any other crops for doves? I'm about to plant Browntop & Proso millet for the first time and in rows to keep the ground open in between.

That is a great job. Restoring and painting old equipment does wonders for the soul.
Is the smaller round wheel up front a gauge wheel for depth control or press wheel that rides in front to smooth the ground before the "V" coulters open the seedbed?******
