JD Planter finished
Completely disassembled cleaned, sanded, primed, painted and re-assembled. I am happy with the outcome. We planted 6 ac of sunflowers before I restored and it worked great- now it looks the part!

Just like washing the car. If it's clean seems to run better.
I've got a cutting torch and a welder sooo YEAH it'll fit!!

Nice job. What is the model number of that planter?
Hope you have better luck with your sunflowers than I did. I planted 3 acres a few years ago with a JD planter. They germinated great. Weed control chemicals worked great. Deer loved them. Cleaned out the whole field

Re: JD Planter finished
I used Spartan 4F at planting. I was trying to make a dove field, so total weed control wasn't necessary. You can mix Dual Magnum, Prowl or Pendimax for better grass control. The Spartan by itself did an adequate job for my situation.
Like I said, the deer love sunflowers. They ate my entire crop prior to the sunflowers heading out
If you have large deer populations, sunflowers are hard to get to maturity.
