WHATS THE BIGGEST PRESSURE WASHER YOU CAN PUT ON RESIDENTIAL WATER?
I am thinking of putting a Comet Pump on my PTO. I wanted the 5.5 gpm pump is that to much ?
How does that work out? anyone know... Like you can go 5.0gpm but not over 3000 psi or you can go 2000 psi with only 4.0gpm?

Would it not depend on the local service and what it has to offer?

we typically have 50-60 lbs of pressure around here and I have no idea what gpm would be.

Use the hose you are planning to supply the pressure washer to fill a 5 gallon bucket. Time how long it takes to fill the bucket. Divide 5 gallons by the time in minutes it took to fill. If it takes one minute, you can supply 5 gpm. If it takes 0.5 min you can supply 10 gpm.

Like this?
[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Comet-PTO-Driven-Water-Pressure-Washer/dp/B000PIW97O]Amazon.com: Comet PTO-Driven Cold Water Pressure Washer - 3000 PSI, 5.5 GPM, Model# PTO SW 5540: Home Improvement[/ame]
Just looking at comet's catalog, they seem to be rated at twice to generally three times the RPM of a PTO. As the rated RPM goes down, the GPM requirement goes up.

3000 psi is the max youwant to use but what or you cleaning that you would need 5.5 gallon per min. i have a large hot water preasure washer and clen alot of diferent things but never use that kind of volume most time i use a 40 degree nozzle that puts me at or around 3.5 gallon per min.

Re: WHATS THE BIGGEST PRESSURE WASHER YOU CAN PUT ON RESIDENTIAL WATER?
Dan I like this one a LOT more!
I have a 13HP Honda powered hydrojetter w/ a 4SF CAT PUMP that
needs a rebuild or replacing. Yesterday I priced it at over $1K or about
$600 to rebuild. I went huntin' for like pumps and found General Pump Co.
I called and spoke to "Ron" at GP and he spec'd me out a like pump, w/
pulsation and unloader. I went pricing and found it all, all new parts for
about $575.00 so I will pull that trigger this morning. I found Ron to be
very knowledgeable / helpful. 888-474-5487 x125 . They will not sell
to you but you will get the info you need. I do not know if they sell a
PTO pump or not...but a plethora of info he is.
I bet if you pull off your Hose bib, and replace it w/ a full port ball valve
w/ a 3/4"MIP x MaleHose adaptor you can bump up your GPM's
significantly. I call that set-up a Little FireFighter and install it much to
many clients delight when I do water services, BEFORE the pressure reg
if there is one...Regards,
