I am looking at a JD 14T baler. It is in good shape and is baling but the left knotter frame is cracked. Is this knotter frame interchangeable with any others from JD?
The parts site shows they used 3 different ones, depends on serial #,the last one for 47540 and up,is the same as a 24T. Do you know what the serial # is?
The # is 181407. What I am wondering about is the casting that holds all of the guts for the knotter. It is cracked by the twine disk. I can get it welded if needed but would rather replace it.
i have a 14t bailer with i believe to be the old style knotters. everything works great but the left side facing the tractors knots tail is a bit to short. and sometimes slips the knot which as you all know is a real pain. how do i adjust the tail length?
I would have a "very" experienced/certified welder nickel rod weld the knotter casting together. This will be extra easy if there are no casting chunks missing. Don't have the casting brazed... probably won't hold long.
I had a cracked knotter on my 24T I was bringing back to life. When I saw the new & ebay prices of these, welding it was my only option. I found a chunk of the casting that had broken off which made the job only $30!!
