chipper pictures

Artisan and I got deals on the same chippers just a few days(and half a state) apart. I finally got a couple pictures off my phone.

Bearcat 70554 chipper/shredder on NH TC40D. So far, I have about 5 yards of chips for my wife's garden.

I replace all my blades both chipper and shreadder.

Banged out the dent on top, pulled and stripped and painted all
black parts along w/ greased all bearings and she works great!

Above picture is before and bottom is after...These things are mean mama'jammas'!

Does it blow the chips out the bottom or side ? The first set of pictures are a little blurey. Why does it have two seperate chutes ? Will it take 4" material ?

Blows out the bottom, it will do 4" w/ sharp blades and nothing super hard.

Yes, it was late in the evening, so I got fuzzy pictures.

The chips sorta come out the bottom and side. If you are chipping/shredding much, you have to keep moving the material out of the way. There is an option blower chute, but it is $850 or so...

There are two separate chutes. The one on top is for the shredder. The one on the back is for the chipper. There are a lot of dedicated chippers available, but only a few that shred too. This is a chipper/shredder.

It will take a 5" branch. But, anything 3" or so and bigger, is firewood for me...

Looks like the same machine I bought 12 years ago branded Bush Hog, but with one significant change. That looks like an access port at the lower left rear for changing the chipper blades, instead of having to take the whole top of the machine apart. That would be a major improvement, since taking off the top involved a lot of bolts and the top was then unwieldy to handle.

That, plus the pain of moving the chips out from under it, caused me to buy a Bear Cat chipper with a blower several years ago, and I love it. But the lack of a shredder does make handling small brush more difficult.

Yes, and that is why we got this particular chipper shredder. It will get a lot of use shredding garden "stuff". Yesterday, I made over a yard of mulch just from garden trimmings my had piled up.

I would guesstimate we will have about a 60/40 mix; 60% chipping, 40% shredding.

Artisan mentioned in another thread, we can get the blower kits for these. But it is $850 or so.

But the lack of a shredder does make handling small brush more difficult.
