The past four weekends, the DW and I have been cleaning up and prepping a 2 acre plot for a veggie garden, a blueberry patch, and a fruit tree orchard.
I bush-hogged and plowed it. Then the two of us walked it, digging up the bigger roots and shrub stumps. When we had completed about two thirds of the stump pulling, I showed her the procedures to run the discs over it. She ran the tractor while I finished with the stumps.
She didn't get off that machine for three hours straight. Over the last two weekends, she's put in more than a dozen hours. She's declared that she loves it. DW is one of those women with 3000 thoughts going on at all times. Her job requires it, and she's the same at home. She said that on the tractor, her mind was cleared of everything but drawing a straight pass with the discs. She found it very relaxing.
Last night, she spotted one of my attachment catalogs and immediately started flipping through, to decide what additional machines we needed.

Y'all keep your fingers crossed. I may get a new attachment out of this.

Wow that amazes me. I'm almost positive my wife couldn't even crank the tractor. Best of luck in getting some new goods out of the deal!

My wife used to say that she gardens from the kitchen window. The rest was up to me. But I loved keeping the place like she wanted it. Now the canning, freezing part was up to her. Worked out okay for us.:)

My wife loves running our Massey, and again today..............I reminded her of another attachment that I was looking at, that would have helped us immensely, that she said we didn't need. Good Luck:thumbsup:

The attachment was a 'boom pole'...........Would have worked great for lowering my 'huge' water lilly pots into the pond.

40 acre forget the new attachment....start shopping for a second tractor. You have to strike while the iron is hot.

One of my big reasons to get a new, smaller tractor earlier this year was so that my wife - with two knee replacements, two hip replacements and a fused back - could get on it and give me a hand. It worked, and she loves it. It is sure easier in dragging stuff or loading limbs or other things not to have to get on and off the tractor a hundred times. Works for us both.

So far she has had little interest in cutting brush or road maintenance. We'll see later...

I have to hook up most of our attactments but, she can operate everything that we own. She loves to mow and bale hay but, she says raking is boring. She isn't as fast as most but, she will drive 10 miles out of the way to cut down a 1x1 ft square that she may have missed in the hay field and god forbid the hay swath be to wide for the pick up on the baler. She will cut out of the row and go back for less hay than it would take to fill up a rabbit.

My wife is frugal and I have to tell her that we just simply can not farm without the attactment.

My wife does not understand my tractor fettish. Actually I would be worried if she tried to operate it. Anyway, that is OK with me. She likes the results
