Backhoe Backhoe modifications

We bought this 2004 Gulin-Yuchai "China". Jinma YW-6 subframe mount hoe this past weekend.. It was sitting outside for the last year or so. This had come new as part of a package deal on a 35 hp Jinma Trator/Loader. The hoe is like new, "some paint still on the bucket" Pins all good and no slop, no hyd stains around cylinder, no cracks, The only thing missing was the supply hose to the valve body which had leaked and not replaced before the owner died.Also had a broken pin on one valve handle that has been fixed already.
Now I would like some advice/comment. We plan to convert it to a three point hitch mount so we can use it on our restored 1953 Ford NAA "Golden Jubilee"... We plan to cut the sub frame back to the hyd tank, weld a pto drawbar to the frame rails, add bracing and use the rear mounting pin bosses as a base for the top link frame. We are planning to fabricate a top link frame ourselves to the right height just above the drawbar mounted on the frame. We bought a new Prince 7.2 GPM six spline 540 PTO pump to power it and will make hoses as we need them.
What do you guys think about this, any advice? has anyone done something similar?... We own the Jubilee tractor and need a small hoe to maintain the water system for our property. It would be mainly occasional light use. By the way, we paid 900 dollars for this hoe.

No such thing as light use and hoe. Its not that you won't be gentle, it is that digging is hard work.

IMO, your hitch will support the weight, but will not support the torque and you will rip the 3PT off the tractor on the first scoop.

Its why they have sub frame rods to add support.

Why not figure out how to make it like a tow behind.

I have used a three point hitch hoe on a much smaller tractor. I have never seen anyone rip off a three point hitch with a 6 foot hoe. Seems to be a lot of three point hitch backhoes out and about. This one was offerd either way, sub frame or 3Pt. Also I am a heavy equipment operator for the last thirty five years, so I know the dynamics of digging. I also know that the Jubilee is a rugged tractor. We plan to use some fairly heavy steel and add the sway bars or even make our own.

I thought further about this....I have seen the posts on here and other sites about the 3 pt vs sub frame mounted backhoe attachments, broken bell housings, etc. I grew up on a 2,000 acre green bean farm running farm quipment from big plowing and fitting tractors to bean pickers,right down to little utility tractors. Why should a backhoe "or any attachment" that is matched to a particular size tractor tear the tractor apart if used and not abused. A backhoe with a rated breakout force of 4,000 lbs should never rip apart a hitch. It might be harder on the tractor bell housing if slamming and ripping into rocks and stumps, but the hitch is made to take some pretty hard impact forces, such as implements slamming up and down during transport on rough roads, to jerking out stumps, or hitting something hard with a back blade. My bet it that those impact forces are far greater on a hitch than those generated by a little backhoe digging in soil. Where am I wrong??

if a 3pt hoe has a subframe of somsort, and isn't rock picking and stump tugging.. it will likely be ok.. one use dlike a bulldozer.. well.. that might be an issue.

You know, I guess I am wrong on this one. I have only seen undermounts and the only 3pt I ever saw was ripped from a tractor. But as I looked into this, I see that it is done and done by the big companies.

i've seen damaged 3pt hoe's..but most had no subframe. or were used way too hard. some had endemic failures like loose frame bolts that allowd play and flexing.

with any heavy equipment.. damage CAN happen...

I have the same hoe on my Jinma. It seems rugged enough but it certainly takes some practice to get proficient with. It has a very jerky operation. I've read several posts about people attempting to smooth them out.

on some side to side situations you can use orifice valves to slow downthe reaction..e tc.

Wondering if your YW-6 backhoe modification was successful? I am in the process of purchasing a 1972 MF Industrial 20 Tractor here in Alaska which appears to be in good shape and comes with a MF32 FEL, but no backhoe. I have a YW-6 backhoe which I purchased with my Jinma 284 tractor in Washington State and have not used except for a few hours. (Wanted my grandchildren to learn how to use equipment rather that a shovel, but they were not interested). Would like to do as you were planning and bring the backhoe to Alaska and install on the MF.
