Everything attachments "free" shipping isn't free

Just FYI:

I was looking up the price of a WR Long grapple just for the heck of it on everthingattachments.com, and noticed that the price was considerably more that what I paid when I bought mine through my local dealer. I was curious as to why it was so much more? I realized that when I figured in the shipping cost that I had to pay, it was actually pretty close, but still a couple hundred over which is understandable because they need to make their money too.

However, I started looking around their website and found out that they don't actually have free shipping within 1000mi, it's just that they quote the cost of the item with shipping already included. It makes sense because I know those heavy objects are expensive to ship, so I always wondered how they could make any money by offering 'free' shipping.

Seems like more of a marketing gimic to me but I still like how the price you see on the website is the total cost with shipping included, it takes away the inconvenience of trying to figure out what your actually paying including shipping.

That may well be a violation of FTC fair trade regs...

There is a considerable amount of territory between "free shipping" and shipping and handling "included in prices quoted" and knowing what constitutes the TRUE price and what is being added (ostensibly) for shipping means being to compare apples w/ apples vs w/ onions....

We would show the Low dollar base price picked up here then priced shipped to zone 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. I think this would be a fair way of presenting what we have for sale. We will have a map of the USA lower 48 states and all the customer needs to to is pick the zone he lives in and price of his delivered machine and go the checkout. Any feedback on this idea? I think that is a really great idea. The more I think about it, I realize that for me (living close to 1,000miles away) the EA prices aren't bad, however, for the guy that lives 150 miles away (close but not close enough for pick up) he is sorta getting the shaft on shipping charges. Why would someone who lives nearby have to pay the same as someone who lives triple, or even quadrouple the distance? Seems like they probably make quite a bit of profit just on the difference alone.

For example, if someone lives 900 miles away, pays 1,000 dollars for an attachment shipped, and they figure shipping to be say $200. Then the guy that lives 200 miles away buys the same attachment at the same price, yet his shipping might be $50-$100 dollars or so, then the company is making an additional 1100-150 bucks profit? Doesn't seem fair to the guys that are close by.

I like your idea of the zone shipping charges, it's nice to see the cost of shipping, but also you want to know the true cost of the implement, this way if shipping is quite pricey for a specific item, and it's only a few hour drive for someone, they may decide it's in their better interest to take a small road trip for the day and pick it up themselves, and save all that money on shipping.

I think you have a good business plan for your shipping idea. :thumbsup:

Zone shipping and an online zone map is fair and easy to understand. It obviously costs you much more to ship a heavy item to Minnesota or Oregon than it does to send the same item to Kentucky or Georgia. I like it when businesses take the guesswork out of long distance internet shopping.

C'mon fellas, give the guy a break. They have a great operation and a great website. They've done with equipment online what few if anyone else have done. (Ken Sweet is getting there, but Everything Attachments is on a whole different level. You're getting into semantics, and I just feel like saying 'what's the point?' Prices are still really good and I don't feel that he's being 'deceitful' in the least. My 2 cents.

I could not agree more. If you don't like the price, buy it elsewhere.
