I am looking at heavy duty 8-9 foot rear blades (those rated for 100 hp). As between Bushog, Woods and Landpride, which do you prefer and why?

You might want to PM MtnViewRanch - I think he's commented on the RBT35 Series Blades a few times and seems to know what he's talking about ... or try schmism - he's another HD blade runner.

My guess is that you are looking at Cat. 2 blades. Any of those brands listed will be made to take a great deal of stress.

Are you looking for any special feature (like double offset, hydraulic, reversible, self-standing)? That may influence your choice.

This is a Gearmore GB85. Quite substantial and well built.

I bought a Bush Hog 121-09 only because it was the first of the three you mention I found used.

LandPride RBT3596 or Woods RB850 would have worked too.

pclausen has a post about his Woods RB850. Nice blade, but if it's not set up for hydraulic angle and you want that, parts are pricey. He had to buy a plate to mount on the blade pivot kingpin to hook the angle cylinder to.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those.

I think that you will find that most of the hydraulic actuated blades are all very similar in how they are built. Now once you start looking at these, there are 3-4 different duty ratings and THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between duty ratings. I highly recommend the Land Pride blades because I am very familiar with them, have an RBT45108. Rated to go behind a 15,000lb tractor. Land Pride rates by weight and hp. Very good blade, better than the others of that duty rating, not really. My thinking is that the manufacturers should rate for weight rather than hp, but they think that the hp figure is better and it is definitely easier. A lot of people have no idea what their tractor weighs and that is most likely why they use the hp ratings.

I would prefer hydraulic. Beyond that nothing special unless someone suggests a feature that I should look for. I need to it keep up about 9 miles of dirt roads.

I've got one of these hydraulic Leon blades:
Leons Mfg. Company Inc.
It works really well, I'd recommend it to people. Probably don't need the 200 hp model but you can't break it. I've got it on a 100 hp / 11,000 lb tractor.

What do they cost?

Have you considered a grader for your 9 miles of road (that is a lot!!)? Landpride makes one. Not sure of the specific name but it is especially designed for grading gravel roads and does a better job than a blade according to those who own one.
