3PT Quick Hitch
Decided to buy a cat.1 quick hitch for my tractor. Only had time to try it with my rotary mower (6' King Kutter Flex Hitch). Bottom pins fit fine, but the top hook has to be so low that I can only use one bolt in it. Normally it would use two. I was wondering if its ok to use just the one bolt? The hook is loose being used that way. Not sure if thats a good idea. If not, I guess I'll have to use the adapter for the top instead of the hook. Any ideas?

Re: 3PT Quick Hitch
Dave,
I believe rotary mowers are supposed to use a floating link on the top pin connection. You don't want a rigid coupling so the mower can rise up over obstacles. Do you have this for your mower? Some hitches come with them.Chris

Re: 3PT Quick Hitch
With this particular mower I don't think that is as much of an issue. There is enough flex with the mower up and down even if there was a rigid conection. Its also able to roll side to side about 15 degrees. But its something I'll have to look into. I do know they make an adapter for the top connection if the hook does not work. I think I will look into buying one. Thanks for your advise.

Re: 3PT Quick Hitch
I tried to get one of those to work. Had a lot of trouble with the top link on a lot of attachment (plow, rotory cutter, etc). Gave up and returned it. Got the quick hitch bottoms sold on TBN. Had them two yrs. Works great on everthing! Lower back saver! Note: best to pull pins before raising lower arms up.

Re: 3PT Quick Hitch
Yea, things don't always go the way we hope. I'm hoping that it will work with my other equipment but I haven't tried yet. I live a couple of ours away from where my tractors at, and haven't had time to get back down there. If it won't work, I will definately look into what your talking about. Anything has to be better than trying to fight to put the attatchments on. Thanks

Re: 3PT Quick Hitch
Stewart, I agree. The Pats system is a great addition and a good alternative to a quick hitch. The best part about Pats is that no modification to your attachments is required and there are no bushings needed. I think the Pats is the perfect compromise for people who change rear implements occasionally, especially if you have attachments that don't confirm to the ASAE standards. Someone who is changing them routinely is better off to put in the front end work for a quick hitch.
