Looking to invest in a pressure washer and wondering if a PTO powered unit would be feasible. Thinking about putting together the components myself since the pumps are relatively cheap compared to "turn key" units. My question is regarding the availability of 540 PTO speed increasers to power the pump and what RPM the pump needs to turn. Can a larger volume pump be run at the lower 540 RPM and maintain rated pressure at a lower volume so it could be mounted direct drive? My B9200 is rated at 18 PTO HP.
All help appreciated.

i would just get a generic electric pressure washer, and if you need portability. get a gas powered pump / pressure washer. if you need portability, get a PTO generator to run a electric pressure washer.

AR North America - Overgear for Tractor P.T.O.
I did find this PTO overgear which lists for $975 and 30% discount ($682).
Looks like it is made to mount and clamp directly to the 540 PTO spline shaft. Why couldn't the pump be mounted directly to the output of the overgear? Looks like that would eliminate the cost of the PTO shaft and framework. The overgear could probably be used for other applications that require a higher RPM such as a PTO generator.

Wow - I wondered the same thing, thanks for the info. I was reading in another thread that was really just a brainstorm on what could be connected to the mid PTO where they suggested a pressure washer. I was questioning that as a use since it would be so hard to get to it, but for $682, that would be a lot of reason to use it. It also justifies the cost of the northern tool implement.

If you are planning on building it yourself I think I would just design it with the PTO driving a pulley and use the correct combinations of pulleys to get the correct speed for the pump. Most of the larger gas powered pressure washers have belts.

Most of the larger gas powered pressure washers have belts.

I thought that had more to do with running larger engines at slower more efficient speeds and speeding the output up via belt ratio. 2x-3x the life if you spin half as fast....

*rubs chin* there are all these tractors with 3000PSI hydraulic oil pumps. plus wide varitey of levers to operate various equipment with hyd, from cylinders to hyd motors.

what would it take, to find a generic PTO hyd pump. and a open center valve? and would the PTO hyd pump and generic hyd valve on tractor be able to handle water vs oil?

add a 500 gallon water tank, that folks might place in back of a pickup truck or on a trailer. for when there well runs dry or like doings.

=====================
there are some descent 12V on demand pumps out there. not sure how high the pressure is on them though. that might get used on a 3pt hitch sprayer / trailer.

12V on demand pump, pump auto senses pressure, and turns on/off as needed without any sort of lever or special things. besides pulling the handle on the spray gun.

Have a bunch of stuff to get done today so I'll try to add more later but here is a better deal on that gearbox:

AR Gear Boxes RK Series

Output side of this box is 1431 @ 540 input, so you'll want to find a PW pump that runs at 1450, that's a fairly standard speed for pumps that aren't "direct coupled" to an engine.

The PTO HP on your tractor should be able to turn a pressure washer pump, with a pressure up to 3000 psi, pumping about 9 GPM.

You could gear up the 540 or your tractor may have a 1000 rpm mode.

To go from to 540 rpm to 3600 rpm requires about a 6.66:1 ratio

Your other PTO speed is 748 rpm

You also have a mid PTO speed at 1847/2557 rpm.
