Does anyone have a ballast box that attaches easily to a box blade? Homemade or store bought, pictures please.

My 6ft box blade weighs 600lbs (???) and I sure would like more counterweight when using the seriously large (deep) 78" loader that comes with my Mahindra 6530.

My box blade is 5 feet wide, I bolted on 2 pieces of one inch steel plate, 10 x 22 just over 60 pounds each.

When I need additional weight for counter balance I add six 42 lb suitcase weights.

Robert what I am thinking is you need another 600 lbs in weights.. So maybe a large square box on top of the box blade you can fill with at least a dozen or more of those weights. Check your manual or loader manual and it will have a suggested ballast for your 3pt. But I am betting 1200 or more is about right for that size tractor. Or make a dedicated ballast box, from scratch.

I made a cradle that holds a 55 gallon plastic drum sideways out of 2X6 pressure treated lumber. The water weight is about 450 pounds (water is about 8.3 lbs a gallon I think) and the cradle is about 40 pounds. I would think you could get two on your box blade. It is a fairly inexpensive possibility.

Nope, wont work for my needs. If I need to take the weight off, I would have to drain all that water. Need something that will be easily weighted and unweighted.
