Really not sure if this is a stupid question or not, or I just haven't taken a good look at my mower deck....
Are the wheels on the 54" mower deck for the 1026R not supposed to swivel? Every time I cut a hard turn they dig into my lawn. My last small John Deere riding mower had swivel wheels. Maybe I am not cutting the grass properly? Wheels too low and not supposed to touch? Just don't understand the logic on not allowing the mower deck wheels to swivel.

It has a suspended deck and when adjusted properly the wheels do not support the deck riding just above the ground. Our 2305 has the same type deck as does our BX.

My dealer said that when the tractor is on flat concrete and the mower is at your set cut height, you should be able to slide your fingers between the guage wheels and the ground.

Although that's true when mowing on FLAT ground, when turning on off-camber ground the low side wheels does scrape the ground. I'm with Noodlez914...if someone could tell me where to get swivel replacement wheels for my 1026R, I would do it in a heartbeat.

The 62D (2x20 tractors) decks have swivel wheels on the front and non-swivel on the back. Did they change it for the 1026 decks?

Yes they did...the Deere dealer tells me they had issues keeping the swivel wheels lined up straight with the tension spring, they "wobble" around and sometimes break when they contacted the ground not lined up in the direction of travel. I guess they got fed up and eliminated them.
