Woods 5000 chipper/shredder PTO Drive Shaft question

I have the Woods 5000 Chipper/Shredder (built by Crary/Bearcat).
The PTO driveshaft is pretty short when bought new. The one on my unit has been trimmed down even more (by the previous owner), so I have to use a PTO Adapter (extender). However, using that results in more angle on the yokes then is advisable. I'm estimating 30 degrees or a bit more.
I'd like to replace the inner/outer shafts (tubes) and keep the yokes. Although I've trimmed PTO driveshafts, I've never replaced the shafts (tubes).

Has anyone ever done this? How are those tubes held on to the yokes?

Answers from owners of this type of chipper/shredder would be preferable, but any pertinent answers would be appreciated.

Roy, that's exactly what I did a few months back instead of getting the adapter you had posted. I first removed the plastic quards over the shaft to expose it. Then I took a punch and drove out the roll pins. This pin goes through the yoke and the shaft. After the pin was out I was expecting the shaft to come out with relative ease.
I was dead wrong. I ended up cutting the shaft flush with the yoke and using the new longer shaft to drive the old shaft out of the yoke. I then cut off the slightly tweaked new shaft(less the 1/2"). Then just drill out the shaft for the roll pin and drive the roll pin home. Was painless after I was able to locate the replacement shaft stock. I also ended up replacing the U joint since mine was toast.

Thanks for the reply. May I ask where you got the drive shaft tubes?

I had to do that same thing on my chipper. The roll pin came out no problem, but the triangle tube was in the yoke so solid, that the application of a BFH only moved it about 1/8" and I tried really hard. I took the bent half shaft and the new stock to a place that builds and fixes truck drive shafts and they did it on some sort of press no problem (cost $18 or so). I seemed to have had a bit of trouble locating the right size PTO shaft stock as there are many shapes and even more sizes out there.
