OK, Here's the deal. Mike (LstInThot) has 2 PHD's now and is not selling either the new or the used one, and my neighbor's (which is a Speeco from TSC drills crooked holes, and I need to use a PHD for more pasture fence, Run-in shed, and a play structure build. CL does not have any at the moment...

I NEED and can justify a PHD, but I can't spend a fortune on it.

I already own a 9" auger bit for the TSC version, so... How good/bad is it?

My 10% off coupon is only good until the 8th...

Please give me HONEST opinions.
Thanks in advance,
David

David from the ones I've seen those PHD's are made by Speeco.at least around her. Most come with comer gear boxes made in China. I think the only phds that have USA gearboxes are Danuser,Befco and maybe Landpride. A 9" auger might be to big(wide)for your average needs. Those Speeco's IMO are pretty decent. They come shipped dry and need to be filled after purchase(no big deal). If you don't buy an auger you'll probably be paying $450 plus tax minus 10%. Even though I don't use mine alot I like to own my own stuff and not borrow from others. Make sure at purchase(if you decide) you get your pto shaft w/protectant covers and all hardware thats suppose to come with it.

Boone,

What Oil do you recommend? My wife does not like me borrowing stuff, and I try to treat it better than my own, I'd love to be able to afford everything I want, someday I will...

I will make sure it is complete.
Thanks,
David

Stan,

Nice 'Bota...

My neighbor's PHD is beat... And while slightly crooked (and got worse as we went along) it was awesome on my heavy clay type soil for building my first ~345 feet of horse fence...

Thanks for posting.

80/90 weight gear oil make sure it says "FOX PROOF" on label. (ha/ha !)
Sometimes I've seen TSC run specials and sell them for 399(no auger) Might want to just wait a couple days to see what they put up for Forth of July SALE.
Just a thought. Post pic's !
