Yikes! Sorry about your grinder getting bent up like that. I agree with the advice to heat it up and put a pipe over the pin to get it back into the correct position again. My SG100 is the same way (tabs welded to a tube frame). I have done about 75 stumps now, and I too am using Foggy's dragging technique at times going real slow. I'll be sure to be extra careful going forward!

Mossflower- that good your dealer is going to fix it, but next time when you are in a pinch. IMO bent metal isnt broke it was used . if you dont have a crescent wrench that is bigger then 18 inch- then the largest monkey wrench will do. I would never use a hammer unless there is no access with wrench. I have used the monkey wrench on several things including the 40 ft GN trailer that had a bent tail (1/4 thick metal plate) from the construction BH lifting the rear that helped to move a stuck, loaded trailer onsite soft soil.

Ask your dealer if he plans to add a thicker plate or gussets ?

I did that same thing to my box blade by snagging a big root. I got a neighbor to weld a second ear on so I now have loose pins anchored both sides of the lift arm.
Also, a reminder for bent things: if you have a hydraulic woodsplitter, you have a hydraulic press.

One reason to LEAVE the pins on the outside is to increase the stability of the grinder.....thus minimizing the shake or vibes during the grinding operation. Every little bit of slop will increase the jumping he experineces. Leave em outboard....I say.

That makes good sense. I think I might try switching mine so they are pointed outward. I don't have a stability problem but it would make hookup a lot easier for me.

I'm not a big fan of pins. If you have a welder or don't mind going to a local welding shop I would replace the single steel setup and convert it to the two pieces of steel with a removable pin.

I'll see about capturing some "in cab" action footage over the weekend.

Here's a "still" after taking out 75 stumps. A quick session with the power washer, and it would like like new. No noticeable wear on the teeth at all yet.

They are on the outside now, gonna stay there... Long term I will look into changing to removable pins.

I had problems this week with my -50 when the small bolt holding the horizontal pivot pin in place fell out. This was on a hardwood stump of a dead tree. I was taking shallow cuts when the cutter wheel started bouncing more than normal. I shut down and checked unit finding the pivot pin had backed out from one side, the bolt ,nut and washer were in the sawdust. I had checked tightness when setting up but not since then. Replaced with a nylon locking nut, trying to get holes to aline in 104 temperature was a long job.
Ran it after repairs but had to stop when second notch on air conditioner was not enough. Neck was stiff turning around even twisted 90 degrees in seat, using a MF 1652 HST with 3 remotes. Sound was not bad but I do wonder about the chips that bounce off the back window.
