Rotary Cutter Part for Ford brush hog

I've got an old Ford brush hog. Can't find any identifying markers on it, but based on a little internet research I think it might be a model 22-60. I broke the lower gear box recently, and am trying to figure out if a replacement is available. I think the part # is 220701. Does anyone know of a vendor that deals with parts for this unit?

I wouldn't even bother, if you really want to keep it than buy a new gearbox as it will probably be cheaper.

IF you want new check at Messicks or a NH dealer.

Thanks for the quick response, Mooseracing. Are you saying there may be New Holland parts that will fit on a Ford mower? And am I correct in my sense from your response that you're thinking it may not be worth fixing?

NH is Ford. The 901 is an old mower, so unless it has sentimental value or in great shape, it's hard to justify sinking alot of cash into that gear box when you can buy a new gearbox and make it fit.

I talked to a parts guy yesterday. Based on the prices he gave me for a new gear box versus the quote I have for a replacement gear housing, it's clear that if I'm going to repair the new gear box would be the way to go. But it sounds like I'd be going from a 6 bolt mount to a 4, plus other possible complications and add'l costs. Given the age of this thing, I'm now thinking of buying a new one. But what I have now is a 24 spline coupler, and the new machines I believe would be 6. How do I adapt it?

I am replying to your 2012 inquiry about a housing for a 901 brush hog and it is 2017. In case you still have it and want to repair it, I have a housing. My old 6-bolt 901 gearbox 220701 twisted off the front shaft. I bought a used gearbox so I still have my old one if you need the housing.

i am interested in the 901 brush hog gear box. i need the the shaft that the blade is hooked on the vertical shaft. the gear box is220701 and the spline shaft has 10 splines and the gear has 15 teeth on it. if you still have it i would just need the vertical shafT out if it. Please let me know and see if we can make it work. thanks
