I borrowed a FC RT10-66 and after two passes, the upper bearing in the Chain Driven Gear box blew up. The "after-effect" was the Chain Adjuster (a 3/8" Steel bar with a hook end) broke and wedged into the lower gear and damaged both the upper & lower gears (Good news is the Chain survived).

I am looking for a SERVICE Manual (not an Owner manual) on this unit as to the dis-assembly and reassembly of the bearings and the orientation of the Chain Adjuster. I have talked to five in-state and out-of-state dealers and no one knows how to repair this unit. I also talked with BuySmart in N.C and they have been unable to help thus far. I was able to order new parts but need to get the upper bearing removed and re-installed as well as the orientation and "adjustment" of the Chain adjuster (since it was broken at the hook portion when I opened the cover, I did not see it in the correct position.)

Doe anyone know if a Service Manual exists for RT-10 unit or has anyone repaired one of these units?

Thanks. Contacted Carver Equipment and they no longer sell First Choice. They are now a Phoenix Dealer. He suggested I contact BuySmart in N.C.
Unfortunately, this is were i started a month ago. They have been of little help other than giving me variuos dealer names. I have contacted in-state and out-of-state dealers to no avail. They only have part schematics (which I had from the beginning) and can sell you the parts but theyknow nothing about repairing them nor do they have any information on repair. They all basically say "we just sell them"

It is frustrating because the Owner's Manual says to "See your Dealer" relative to Chain Drive repair and yet no dealer I have found knows anything about repairs

Check and make sure you are working with a T10 series tiller. The Phoenix T10-66GE is a Gear Drive unit. Check and make sure that the model tag is on the unit and readable.

The First Choice RT10-66 is a Sicma CS chain driven tiller. Sweettractors does still sell a few Sicma machines.

It is definitely a First Choice RT10-66. I have a parts schematic for the Phoenix and while they do use an "chain adjuster", it is more like the other models of the First Choice. The RT 10 Series is the only one that uses a long rod, about 3/8" dia, with a hook on the end. I have still been unable to get any info as to how you "adjust" the chain with this bar.

Thanks but I am not looking to buy another one of these. I have talked with Sweet Tractors a few back and, while very friendly, basically said they have never had the cover off the Chain Drive and weren't even sure what was inside.
