Re: Bush hog side to side movement
I tighten up the turnbuckles so there on NO side to side movement...mostly because that's the way I was taught. Equipment can crab on you with sway.

Re: Bush hog side to side movement
I've never been able to adjust out 100% of the sway (checked at the aft end of the implement). Best I get is a couple of inches lateral movement.
I'm actually surprised some of you guys say you can do it...Roy Jackson

Re: Bush hog side to side movement
I'm only able to get it to about 2" like you said at the wheel on the rear of the cutter, I think there is that much slack in the 3ph ball to pin joints that attach the implement. That has always been good enough for me when cutting on slight slopes.

Re: Bush hog side to side movement
I mainly just tighten enough to make sure the downhill anti-sway chain doesn't rub a tire when cutting across a slope...

Re: Bush hog side to side movement
My 3ph mounted rotary cutter is adjusted for about a foot of side play as measured at the rear. That has not been a problem, and at times is nice, for clearance, as stated before. My cutter is 7' diameter so it's really long, making the side play more noticeable. The down side is that when mowing backwards the mower tends to 'flop' back and forth as I steer.
