I am going to be converting my JD CAT 0 tiller to fit cat 1 tractor... My tiller has a pto shaft with the male end on it and female on the garden tractor.

Of course my biggert CUT is different and has male end on tractor and female on pto.

Any ideas on the best way to go about finding or making correct shaft?

Thanks B

You've probably already considered this, but are you sure the 2 pto's are the same rpm and turn in the same direction? The tractors with the female pto are usually 1" 15 spline and 2000 rpm. Just something to think about if you haven't already.

I have thought of that and I have a 1000 pto option on my tractor... so while not exact I think it will turn fast enough to do what little bit I have planned for it. I am wondering if I can just slip a square pto shaft off another one over the one that goes to the machine if its the same size.

If it fits, go for it. Don't see how it could hurt anything, except it will have a lot more torque if you hit something hard.

Change it at the u joints and put on a cat 1 end.
