Need a recommendation for rototiller for Bobcat CT122?

I am looking for a recommendation for good Rototiller to mount on my Bobcat CUT a CT122. I am new to this whole tractor thing so any ideas will be appreciated. Its a 46 inch wide tractor with 22hp, gardening 1/2 -1 acre of ground, no rocks. Will have a bigger garden someday soon. I know Howard's are suppose to be pretty good, but short of that I am,, well, clueless on what a good brand is. Chain or gear driven, reverse rotation green or orange, off-set. Its all so confusing.

i have a 1/2 acre alsoyour tractor 22hp i ran i case245 21hp i ran a 60in tiller no problems if you hit a rock you will feel it if you go chain drive buy spare links for the chain they break from time to time its not the hard to till i was maybe 13 when i started using a tiller make sure you put oil in gear box and check it before you till the whole patch

According to the specs, that tractor is 46.5 inches wide. A 48 inch tiller will work fine for you.
My Massey is 48 inches wide, and my Bush Hog tiller is 48 inches. It completely covers my tire tracks.

I have 60" forward rotation for my CT225 and could handle a 72", but it is nice to have that little bit extra power when needed. In Fall and early Spring when I mix in compost and fertilizer I like travel a little faster so not to pulverize the soil too much. That takes more HP, fo me, than going slower and tilling it fine for the planting preperation. I think the 48" or 52" would best fit the CT122.

I have found a 48 Kuhn EL-32 is realy nice condition, other than the strange orange paint it looks to be in great shape. Kuhn web site says it needes minium PTO hp of 16hp. My CT122 is rated at 16.7 hp at the PTO. The seller is offering me the opportunity to bring my tractor up to his farm and try it out first I buy it. He has a small implelement business where he buys and sells them for fun and profit. Hes at $1500 firm for the unit which seems to be a bit high, but he has other tiller for less money. The only thing holding me back is the power thing I just barely meet the minium requirements. Thoughts?

I don't think you will have a power problem. Bobcat does rate that tractor for use on their 48" & 60" tiller. Did little "google" the Kuhn and found number of good reviews from commercial users. Thought the price was high, compared to new King Kutter, but a couple ads I found listed same model used in almost new condition for about same price. At least this guy will let you try it if you can take tractor to him. Plus he can help set it up in case PTO length needs changing.

I think that model is no longer imported. Models that end in a "2" are made in France. Models that end in a "3" are made in Brazil. The Kuhn website now lists all the smaller tillers 23,43,53 as made in Brazil with chain drive and the larger gear drive tillers, 62 82 and 92 as made in France. Parts might be a concern with the older discontinued tiller. Might ought to call Kuhn up and ask. I think your tractor will be ok with a 48 inch tiller.......one thing for sure if he lets you try it you can find out!

I have a Kuhn EL62 210 currently. Its 83 inches working width. It has a amazing ability!!! Nothing gets wrapped around the roter shaft! I'm stunned with it. I can till up old tall weeds, tall fescue grass, trumpet vines and the roter is clean as a whistle after I'm done. This bugs me no end as my other tillers I've had from the mantis to the troy bilts to a 3pt rotomec and a 660 John Deere have all had to be cleaned unless the ground had been mowed very clean before tilling. I have TRIED to get stuff wrapped around the rotar of my Kuhn and can't. I can't figure out how it does it. This is a huge advantage. Not having to mow a spot before tilling saves lots of time. Not having to get down and and claw at a rotar to clean it saves even more. My mom recently tilled the borders of her flower beds with her 42" Rotomec (befco) tiller. She tilled for about 45 mintues and had to spend 25 cleaning off the roter of this small invasive vine we have here. If you try it out, run it through some taller weeds, if it comes out clean............buy it! LOL.

Its the HST model, I don't think the Bobcat comes in the gear version like the Kioti does.

Excellent - then you can travel as slowly as conditions require while maintaining full PTO speed. I'd think you'd be good with anything up to a 48" or maybe 54", if you can find one at a good price. I've never heard a bad thing about Kuhn, but if the deal doesn't work out, try Ted at Everything Attachments. He fixed us up with a nice 40" Phoenix/Sicma unit at a great price.
