Front-End Loader John Deere 300X Loader Calibration

Anyone have any experience adjusting the 300x or 300cx loader to the mount arms? Mine wobbles around quite a bit, especially under heavy load, from 1/16 to 2 inches at times. The manual really doesnt talk about it.

Sounds like at least one of the retainer clips isn't fastened properly, or has broken. They're the metal tab things with the rubberized ends that lock the arms to the mounts. I apologize for the quality of this diagram, but the clip is item B.

There's one on each arm. If one isn't holding properly, the whole loader will rise and fall on the unlocked side.

Checking Parking Latch Cap Screw Adjustment

A - Cap Screw
B - Latch
C - Locking Screw

E - Leaf Spring
F - Brace Pad
G - Mast Pad
Be sure loader is equipped with materials bucket, 4-in-1 bucket or grapple bucket.

Attach loader to tractor (See Attach Loader section.)

Start tractor engine and lower ballast box or rear implement to the ground.

Dump bucket 10ï½°?0ï½° and lower to ground.

Retract lift cylinders, raising front wheels 25?0 mm (1? in.) off ground. (Do not retract lift cylinders completely.)

On both sides, make sure latch (B) is fully seated against brace pad (F) and latch pin (D) is engaged with leaf spring (E). Cap screw (A) should contact mast pad (G). If not, adjust each cap screw as follows:

Loosen locking screw (C).

Turn cap screw (A) until it makes contact with mast pad but latch is still free to rotate.

Tighten locking screw to specification.

Item Measurement Specification
Locking Screw Torque 25 N瀕 (221 lb-in.)

NOTE: To disable the quick park feature, loosen locking screw (B), turn cap screw (A) until it is tight against mast pad (G) so latch (C) cannot rotate freely. Tighten locking screw to specification.

Extend lift cylinders to lower tractor to ground.

Shut off tractor engine and remove key.

Yes the clips are on and secured. 2nd post - i saw that - wasnt very clear, my dealer said something like pull the screw with the square head out and then reseat something. not sure about what.

Platinumits, Cartod hit it on the head in his post above. You need to adjust the large cap screw per his instructions above. It took me 2 years of thinking that it was normal for the loader to bounce around loose on the masts and then I finally took it to the same dealer before the warranty was up to make sure it was correct. They said of course it is fine. I then took it to another dealer(the place I should have bought it from) and they told me it was never adjusted correctly when it was installed. They showed me exactly what Cartod described above.

I would like to add that if you don't need to remove the loader often, crank the bolts down tight. It will be a little more solid then. It does say that in cartrod's post, but I wanted to stress that. I never remove my loader, and want it as solid as possible.
There have also been isolated reports of dealers installing the mounting posts backwards. You might want to verify that is correct.

I take mine off and on quite often so id rather not put the bolts in the locked mode. I did tighten them and they are better, though i need to go a little tighter. Problem is when they are sufficiently tight, you almost need a hammer to knock the latch into the unload position. Its poorly engineered. JD should have made a pin or bolt system to reinforce the loader arms onto the mounts. But what do i know, im only an engineer.
