I have a Kubota M5040 with FEL, the wheelbase width is supposedly 73.2". My logic says I should get a 7' box and blade in order to cover tracks, but then there is the knowledge of this group....anyone offer some advice or thoughts? I will be using it primarily for maintaining a drive.
go the 7 ft you will regret it if you dont .... and if its not for you you can sell it fast
I am using a Land Pride BB2584 for maintaining our roads and dirt working with my L5740 and like the width for road work. I am in the process of pricing something along the lines of the Land Pride HR35 Series for the added weight, strength and of course hydraulic rippers, but for road maintenance only, my present unit is fine.

You'll have no problems pulling it full of gravel. I have a jd 2320 (24HP) and I use an 84" bb on my gravel driveway with no issues, I also have a 48" bb for dirt work.
So what about the hinged rear blade on some models....pros and cons?
A hinged back blade, when unlatched, will let the front dig deeper on flat ground, or allow digging in a concave situation, like cutting down a bank. I don't know of any cons.

if all you are using it for is driveway/road maintenance, I would contemplate getting a land plane.
I am looking at one in addition to my back box.
The only con I know is cost, it lets you dig deeper and allows you to get a good finish as it floats.Quote:
