Tractor
olderjd for now
I am looking at a 3pt wallenstein model 600. First, it would go on a 50 hp tractor, is this to small of a hoe for the tracto. Also what do you need to do for hydralics on these 3pt hoes. The normal rear remotes wouldnt work would they?

I should add that the main purpose for this is just for posthole digging, a little trenching(not water), clean up work etc. It will be used in gravel country. I have tried hydro augers but it didnt work.

I would still get a frame mount hoe and of the appropriate size is we are talking a modern tractor. Because a modern 50HP tractor isnt nearly as heavy or rugged as some older ones. Only way I'd consider a 3PH hoe is if it is a 1980's or older machine. And then just keep in mind that it is a 3ph unit when you get into some though digging that likes to move the tractor around.

Have you tried the hydraulic PHD that go on the FEL or a skidsteer where you can apply downpressure??

LD1, I tried the skidsteer type... not much success. I would be mounting it on my 401d Jd industrial. It a 84/85 model or around that vintage. A local dealer has been sitting on the 600 and wants to get rid of it fairly reasonable. I was thinking i would be more apt to shred the bh than the tractor. Thank you for the reply. I was just worrying about how to power it and hadnt really thought about the rest

Not really sure on that model of BH, Some use tractor hydraulics, and some use a PTO pump. Your tractor should be fine with a BH like that though.
