Hello,

I know that tractor width should be taken into consideration when choosing rear implements. Should a 50" wide tractor use a 60" or 72" rear attachment such as a blade or tine rake? I'm sure most will say that it depends upon what the implement is being used for and operating space, but just curious if the B2920 that I'm about to purchase will work better with 60" or 72" rear implements, particularly a rear tine rake?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

A 50" would likely cover your tracks, but why not use a 6 foot rake to cover more area and allow you to swing it more of an angle and still cover the 50". The tractor should have no trouble pulling it and a 72" will allow more versatility for just a few dollars more.

Would you be able to turn a 6ft rake around on your tractor?

5ft will be a good fit/match for weight of the tractor. You will run out of traction before HP

What Gary Fowler said - 6 foot would be a good match.

I'm running a home-built rake on my B2910 - I think it's around 80" or so.

Depends on how the particular rake is constructed, and how far back the pivot point is. If ya can't, ya can always drive backwards.

I pull a 5ft rake with my little 25hp massey. It works well most of the time, I do have to fill the loader bucket with gravel to add traction, but that is part the job I am doing anyway.

If it where me unless I found one of those heck of a deal you can't pass up I'd go with a 6'-er .

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback and comments. I went to my local TSC store and looked at the 5' and 6' tine rakes that they carry, in person. The 5' rake seems kinda small, but it's a good size for working in smaller areas. I can't really think of any instances where I will need to rake with the tractory anyway in a smaller space. The 6' rake seems to be about ideal as most everyone mentioned. Primary use of the rake will be for lawn seeding preparation, general soil grading / cleanup and possible dethatching if it's not too aggressive, which it probably is... I don't know if there is enough room to turn around the 5' or 6' rake on a B2920 unless the rake is detached from the machine?

I'm looking at purchasing from ABI attachments as their rakes seem to be of decent quality. Does anyone have feedback on their products or experience from owning/using their products?

Thanks again.

I have not heard of that brand. Mine is a Fred Cain and it is pretty tough although it wont stand up to backing into a 10" pine tree with it hooked to my P7010 without bending or breaking a spring and bending the frame which I had to cut out and replace. Normal operation it will carry a full load of loose rocks and dirt and spreads it better than a straight rear blade. The 8 foot for sure wont reverse while on the tractor, 6' maybe, and 5 foot sure should. I suppose one would need to decide what he wanted to do prior to hooking up.
