Please don't bite my head off. Most gas and diesel engines have governors. Even my 1948 8N has a governor. When there is more electrical demand, the engine uses more mechanical energy, and fuel usage increases in order to keep a constant rpm. When there is less electrical & mechanical demand the engine takes less fuel to keep the rpm constant.

In the case of my 2320 I believe the throttle and my hand is the governor. I realize diesel and gas generators have built in governors.

I did a bit of research on PTO generators & I emailed HF with a few questions. A few things I liked were the GFI 120 volt outlets. The automatic voltage regulation module. Price. Also, what I found out about brush vs non brush seemed not to matter too much, the brushes are for the control voltage, not the output voltage, unlike the old brush motors. With the generator on the 3 point hitch stand, what is the height above
ground of the input spline?
The measurement you were looking for (ground to shaft) is approximately 24".

How much too short is the supplied pto shaft? I also have a L4400 (HST). If the shaft is only short by a few inches, what about adding one of the drive shaft extensions, or a slip clutch, or an over running clutch? I have quick hitches that move the implement back about 4". If I did not have the quick hitch using a PTO extension may work but because the BX1500 uses the shorter shaft it will require a different shaft for each tractor.

on a diesel, your IP should contain what amounts to a governor.

and yes.. fuel usage is based upon load.. not specifically rpm..

mowing 7' tall grass at 540 pto rpm uses lots more fuel than triving around mowign NOTHING at 540 pto rpm.

it's just simple physics.. no free lunch....

I'm jumping back in here. The IP is the Injector Pump. This is a link to what should be a manual for your Yanmar engine:

In section 13, the governor & injector pump are shown. I suggest leaving governor and especially injector pump work to someone that has done this type of work before & know what they are doing. I got the manual from this link:
