This isn't strictly tractor related but this seems like a logical place to post this.

I have a pacemaker so I can't use a gasoline chain saw because of interferrence to the pacemaker from the electrical ignition system on the chain saw.

I think I could use a diesel chain saw, provided it isn't too heavy to lift. A turbo diesel is out of ther question - LOL

Does anybody make a diesel chain saw ? Seems like I saw a post one time about ECHO selling a diesel chain saw but only in Canada. I guess we have the green weenies at the EPA to thank for that.

I also heard that there was one from Russia too.

Anyway, if you know of one I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks,

I haven't heard of a diesel chainsaw, but Kubota makes a hydraulic one that runs off of the PTO of their UTV...

Saw recently that there are battery-operated chain saws, I think Oregon sells it, chinese of course, but that might be a possibilty..

Black And Decker has a rechargeable pole saw with an Oregon chain. It works well. Considering it's a B&D, it works amazingly well. ;)

I picked one up a few years ago for $100 and change.

I have used mine at ground level for quick jobs in lieu of the regular chain saw. It worked fine.

I don't think you will find a diesel saw strictly because they would weigh to much. Thats a draw back of diesel engine technology. Good question though.

Are you sure you cannot use a regular chain saw. I have a pacemaker and the doctor told me that I could not arc weld. I checked with the pacemaker manufacturer and with some restrictions I can arc weld. Call the manufacturer to check on this if you have not already.

I saw all sorts on warnings on the Internet, but the did not apply to my unit.

Don't think I'd want to try and start it on a cold winter day.
Used to do some commercial diving. We got a contract to remove all the old rotten piles from an old marina so a new one could be built. We used a hydraulic chain saw made for the purpose it ran off a 5 horse hydraulic power unit. Did a great job, but being underwater you had nothing to brace yourself against. Instead of you pulling it, it pulled you. Finally added an additional 50 lbs of lead on our Sam Brown belts which really helped.

I think stihl has a battery powered saw.

You should look into hydraulic or pneumatic chain saws that are used in line trimming. Use your tractor hydraulics or a portable compressor to run your saw.
