Trying to get some info. on this sickle mower ( owner's manual). Purchased last year and want to get it up and running. The only info. that I found on the mower was Mc Cormick International 100 Balanced mower. Also found these # on frame of mower 458888-r1 458891-r2. Never used a sickle mower but have heard they can be very dangerous. Just wondered if anyone could push in right direction. Many thanks Dwight.

Those numbers are parts numbers. That is a good machine and the biggest problem would be cutting someone off at the ankles!

I have a sickle mower like that, but no manual. The most danger comes when you are opening or closing the cutter bar to cut or to transport. The knife bar can move and cut your fingers off if they are inside the section guards, but be careful all the time. Cutterbar parts are usually easy to find at implement stores. I use section bolts instead of rivets, generic guards and wear plates, and replacement belt from an auto parts store. I bought mine used in mid '80's, used it a lot, and I've only had minor issues other than sections and guards. There are 2 hidden grease fittings under cockhole covers in the wobbleshaft gearbox. Pop out the covers, roll the pulley some, and the fittings will roll into view through the holes. Otherwise, maint. and repair are simple.
