china sells what we buy. if you want high quality.. you can get it. if you want low quality.. you can get it.

Yes, that's quite right. it just depend on what US customer need. Thank you for your justice for Chinese products. even now, more and more Chinese factory realize that good quality is more important than price.

The Chinese hand tools that I have to use once in a while are fine. If I had to use them every day that would be different.

the only name brand wrench I will absolutely buy is the vise grip and maybe channel lock- destroyed to many of the hF copies and by the time you reach for the vice grip you need all the grip and strength you can get...most everything else is up for grabs..

The only thing Chineese that works, is fireworks.
Good stuff.

Tools, equipment, electronics, cutlery, cookware, it dosn't matter.
If it's Chineese, it's garbage, and likely a fraudulent copy of someone elses design.

I will go out of my way, or do without, to avoid communist chineese crap.

I don't think a thread is ever dead. They can find new life, pop up and chase you anytime!

haha, funny thread. I have a set of HF 1/2in impact sockets, used and abused, bought them probably 7 years ago for $20. haven't broken one yet.
When my wife & I bought our current house a year ago, I had to paint the entire thing top to bottom on the inside (P.O. smoked like 5 packs a day, got a great price on the house, but the initial sweat equity investment along with the $ reno investment was.. large). It's a big house with high ceilings and lots of crown moulding. I picked up a HF hvlp sprayer setup on double discount (it was on sale for like $99 and I had a 20% off coupon), that thing still rocks the house, for about half of the grayco equivalent from the lowe's next door. It probably has 50 hours on it
In contrast to that, the airless wagner that I bought no longer builds full pressure. It did a good job when it worked, but for the $250 or so I paid for it, I expected it to hang around for later projects. I only put 40-45 gallons of primer through the thing...
I have a set of Chinese rods in my drag car, they haven't struggled with 28psi and a 125 shot. The th400 on the other hand... (And the two th350's before that)

All that to say, it's not that I'm some sort of China-fan or usa hater (I also own two lincoln welders, a craftsman lawn mower, a john deere lawn mower, piles of pre-kmart craftsman tools, etc) nor would I say that I've never bought something that turned out to be garbage from HF.. I have. but I've had far more good than bad come from that store and this would seem to be in stark contrast to other people...who, I believe, are just looking for something to ***** about.

you wanna not buy from china? better give up those cell phones, fuel injected cars, computers, TV's, etc... if the whole thing isn't made overseas you can at least bank on the components themselves coming from over there.

We now live in a global marketplace, you want american stuff to become more available you're going to have to get the government to stop interfering.

ipads are made in china. they are hardly crap. have you ever seen the pics of the factory that makes the apple products there? it's one of the better 'clean rooms' I've seen.

it's ok if you don't like stuff from china.

it's not all junk. if you want to pay for junk, you get junk. if you want to pay for quality.. you can get quality. simple supply and demand.

IMHO, quality is all about specmanship. Everything can be specified: materials, tolerances, fit, finish, etc. A manufactured good either meets specs or not. If specs are stringent and are met, quality is there no matter what the country of origin.
