haha, funny thread. I have a set of HF 1/2in impact sockets, used and abused, bought them probably 7 years ago for $20. haven't broken one yet.
When my wife & I bought our current house a year ago, I had to paint the entire thing top to bottom on the inside (P.O. smoked like 5 packs a day, got a great price on the house, but the initial sweat equity investment along with the $ reno investment was.. large). It's a big house with high ceilings and lots of crown moulding. I picked up a HF hvlp sprayer setup on double discount (it was on sale for like $99 and I had a 20% off coupon), that thing still rocks the house, for about half of the grayco equivalent from the lowe's next door. It probably has 50 hours on it
In contrast to that, the airless wagner that I bought no longer builds full pressure. It did a good job when it worked, but for the $250 or so I paid for it, I expected it to hang around for later projects. I only put 40-45 gallons of primer through the thing...
I have a set of Chinese rods in my drag car, they haven't struggled with 28psi and a 125 shot. The th400 on the other hand... (And the two th350's before that)
All that to say, it's not that I'm some sort of China-fan or usa hater (I also own two lincoln welders, a craftsman lawn mower, a john deere lawn mower, piles of pre-kmart craftsman tools, etc) nor would I say that I've never bought something that turned out to be garbage from HF.. I have. but I've had far more good than bad come from that store and this would seem to be in stark contrast to other people...who, I believe, are just looking for something to ***** about.
you wanna not buy from china? better give up those cell phones, fuel injected cars, computers, TV's, etc... if the whole thing isn't made overseas you can at least bank on the components themselves coming from over there.
We now live in a global marketplace, you want american stuff to become more available you're going to have to get the government to stop interfering.
