I have a 7' 2584 mower on a 35 hp tractor but its obvious that it does not take much power to run it. I use the gator brand shredding blades on it and frequently run it thru 6" heavy brush. Mine is rear discharge, which tends to reduce power requirements. As far as lifting it off the ground, that could be a problem for some tractors without front weights. Otherwise, it rolls on 4 caster wheels and all you need is the ability to drag it along. I'm thinking of mounting a 2000 rpm input gearbox on it and pushing it with my JD 935 front mower (22 hp). I already added a 540 rpm auxilliary front pto to the 935, so I know it can easily power it. Whether it can steer it is the question. My goal is to get a high offset deck for cutting under spruce trees and reducing mowing time.
