It is hard to turn away from bargains I don't need. Anyone else have that problem?

Looks like something that would be handy for reclaiming some land or digging a small pond out. I use to run a Steiger with 2 scraper pans and a big JD with one pan,you can really grade a place smooth with them,not just haul dirt,there is a trick to running them but once you get the hang of the cut, filling then doing a finish pass they work wonders.But they wasnt a pan like that but it may do the same as the larger ones.

But yes I am the same way with good deals

It may not be needed NOW but who knows about the future. Then it will cost several times the purchase price. That is my philosophy. It helps me spend lots of money.

Incidently, that is the way places like Costco and Sam's Club stimulate buying. Here today and gone tomorrow. (I'm a member of both. :ashamed: )

I've always wanted one of these. I wonder how much tractor you would need to pull that effectively.

I'm also a sucker for a good deal. I'm waiting patiently for a good deal to come along for a HD bush hog. I got sucked into a heck of a deal for my 3 pt stumpgrinder but boy I'm glad I did!

If I had come across a 3 pt stump grinder that my tractor could power affectively I would jump on it. I
could have been busy all summer since July 4th when a strom storm hit anad took down hundreds of
trees in the area. The tree guys are still busy cleaning up both the mess and making loads of cash.

The electric utilitiy brought in help with managing the fallen trees and pruning to mitigate future
incidents from a couple states away.

I have no doubt I could load my tractor w/stump grinder (or one made for the Bobcat) on a trailer and
be busy with 3 or 4 jobs a day.

I wouldn't know how to charge for a job like that other than estimating my time since I've never done it
before (and won't be since I don't have a stump grinder). Is that the normal method or do you work by
the stump diameter taking or some other pricing model? Beyond 25 miles I think I would add a travel charge,
but that 25 mile radius would give me a few thousand potential customers just from that one storm.

And then resell it for a profit...

I havne't had a job for it yet as I haven't advertised at all. However, my goal is to put an ad out at some point and eventually make enough profit on the grinder just to pay for itself (including being paid for my own time and equipment). I do have my first job this week, just a small one with 3 stumps to grind down the road, I may even just drive my tractor to the site. I've used it enough already to be sure I made the right decision to jump on it. I can already estimate pretty well how long it will take me on certain sized trees, so I could charge either time or by the stump, this first job I'm just charging by the 'job'.
